I think the book in continually mutating fashion will be around for a while yet, and I think the beauty of it is that it can be both trivial entertainment and it can contain words to live and die by. I’m not sure that there will be one new literary standard per se, and even if there is, how long it will last, but I think the stories will continue just like they did before papyrus, and I welcome the speed and accessibility of the new technology just as much as I enjoy the fustiness of new paper books, old paper books and all who sail through them.
